David Brownell - Gold Book Advisory Board - Pre-war Vehicles Dave served for 21 years as editor of Special-Interest Autos magazine and concurrently for 15 years as editor of Hemmings Motor News, the latter publication being the world's largest magazine devoted to car collecting. He is the founding editor of Old Cars weekly and Old Cars Price Guide. He is the creator of the #1-#5 condition code for old-car valuation, now commonly used throughout the auto-collecting community. His writing has appeared in: Automobile, Automobile Quarterly, AutoWeek, Car Collector, Sports Car International, Sports Car Market, and various Concours and vintage auto show programs. He is very active in the Collector car hobby; he is an honorary life member and past president of the Society of Automotive Historians. He serves as an advisor or director of The Stanley Museum, the Vintage Sports Car Club of America, the Automotive Hall of Fame, and the Meguiar's Car Hobby Person of the Year Selection Committee. He regularly serves as a Concours Judge at; Meadow Brook, Pebble Beach, Greenwich and Castle Hill He consults with, and writes catalog descriptions for Christie's, and RM Auctions. He is a Member of 8 clubs Over the last 20 years has appraised over 94 makes of cars for banks, museums, and major auction houses. His awards include: the "Moto" award for excellence in automotive journalism, the American Museum Association award for best video script and video, for the Heritage Plantation Automobile Collection and "Friend of Automotive History " by the Society of Automotive Historians; Over the past 40 years, he has owned over 20 makes of collector cars. Currently he enjoys driving a 1924 Bentley three litre tourer, 1961 Morgan roadster, 1948 Willys Jeepster, 1967 Triumph TR4A roadster and a 1967 Volvo 122S wagon.

Richard Carey - Contributing Editor and Auction Reporter Carey has been a car collector and enthusiast since 1957. In 1991 he started Auto Market Journal, later merged with LOTS. AMJ and LOTS originated the concept of timely and comprehensive collector car auction reporting with results compiled in a searchable database for rapid and informative evaluation of reported transactions, identification of trends and analysis of market conditions. From 1993 to 1997 Carey served as Commercial Director of Callaway Cars in Connecticut, the well-known constructor of high performance Corvettes, Camaros and Impalas and high performance engineering automotive development company with a wide range of OEM clients. In addition to marketing vehicles and the firm's engineering capabilities Carey arranged commercial sponsorships and technical and marketing partnerships for Callawayıs international GT Endurance racing programs. Carey established relationships and managed accounts, which included Goodrich & Pirelli tires, Parametric Technology (developer of Pro/Engineer design software), Silicon Graphics and the Oxygenated Fuels Association. Carey is currently the Auctions Editor for Car Collector and Victory Lane magazines. Car Collector's Market section is a comprehensive 10-12 page monthly review of important auction transactions from the U.S. and Europe with personality profiles, news of upcoming events and analysis of trends important to car collectors. Victory Lane, the only publication reporting thoroughly on vintage racing in North America, devotes 4-8 pages monthly to a review of important transactions in racing, sports and collector cars. The Fourth Quarter 2001 issue of The Milken Institute Review presented his economic and return-on-investment analysis of the collector car market's recent history including adjustment for cost of living. Carey also is an active contributor to other publications on the collector car market. His byline has appeared in Sports Car Market, the online publication VeloceToday, AutoWeek, Classic & Sports Car (U.K.), Ferrari Market Letter and Pur Sang (the journal of the American Bugatti Club). He also writes auction catalog descriptions for RM Auctions, Christieıs International Motor Car Department and Bonhams. Rick has a Bachelorıs in Economics from Dartmouth and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. His personal fleet is modest, but eclectic, including a 1967 Alfa Romeo GTV (owned since new), 1980 Maserati Quattroporte, and a modified, customized 1987 Chevrolet El Camino. Donald Peterson - Gold Book Advisory Board Don Peterson is editor emeritus of Car Collector magazine, which he edited from 1977 to 1991. He bought his first collector car in 1947. In 1954, he joined the Classic Car Club of America, CCCA, and in 1956 purchased his first full classic, a 1934 Bugatti Type 57 Cabriolet Stelvio. Later that year he bought his first Packard, a 1941 LeBaron Sport Brougham, and has never been without a classic Packard. In 1965 he became the first recipient of the CCCA's Citation for Distinguished Service and is presently serving his second term on the CCCA national board of directors. Don served as head judge of the Midwest Grand Classic from 1960 through 1974 and has judged at Pebble Beach, Amelia, Meadow Brook, Hilton Head, and Greenwich. He founded and is active in an appraisal firm that does evaluations for major collectors, banks and insurance companies. He has owned 82 cars of 33 different marques over the past 53 years. He is an enthusiastic user of his cars, participating in over 44 Classic Car Caravans and recently drove his Packard Speedster through all 48 states while traveling to and on a CCCA Caravan. He also shows some of his many cars and has recently won awards with his 1930 Packard Boat tail Speedster at Pebble Beach, Meadow Brook and Amelia as well as winning a first in a recent CCCA meet. He is on the advisory boards of several museums as well as the National Automotive History Collection In Detroit. |
